I started rolling with Mr.BB back in 1970 or so with the 'Completely Well' album.. a priviledged 'white boy' not truly understanding the lyrics but stunned and amazed by the 'bottled lightening' of his guitar.. understated as opposed to al the flash of Clapton, Hendrix, and Page/Beck etc. He opened my eyes to a man of color with less education achieving something brilliantly creative and utterly amazing.. far, far removed from my upper middle class white world but his playing struck a chord which cut through all the superficial socio-economic differences where I truly had love and respect for the man.
Anyways.. like one of the other reviews, I've heard some good things since, but a lot of songs 'sounded good', polished but lacked that simple presense of his playing (as only he can). Sooo... I just finished my 1st listen to 'One Kind Favor' and I love it start to finish.. no technical flash or glitz, but just how u feel after listening.. wow!! I bet Dr. John had something to do with this also.. a great musician who evolved thru many changes over the years and is in a good place these days.
All in all, I can't recommend this record any more than to say the real BB has stood up and did things his way and everyone should be grateful and enjoy this!!
